A home office desk is the central area of your home office. There are many styles of desk to choose from. But for limited budget, the price tags of home office desk can be so expensive, and therefore there are also some people who choose to build it on their own in order to get a new inexpensive desk. Simple & inexpensive home office desk with cabinets is excellent choice if you also need adequate workspace and ample storage to neatly store your files, papers, etc. Building or making a simple desk is not too difficult project if you completely understand on how to do it. 1. Before beginning to build the desk, it is better to consider and prepare the cabinets. There are several choices but you can try with two cabinets that have the same size. For desk supports, you can choose upper kitchen cabinets that have a correct height. Then make your cabinets look better by cleaning & thoroughly sanding (either for inside or outside).

2. Then if you have an unused solid wood door then it can be converted for wonderfully top desk surface. But choose the old door that has a flat solid surface so thus it can be comfortably used for writing, reading or even can be used to place a computer monitor. Avoid the door that has many panels or trim because this condition will make the writing surface of top desk be uneven. Then begin to determine the large size for the top desk surface and saw the door as well as the size that you have decided.

3. Wood is durable material and it can be recycled not too difficultly. So, remove any hinges and rough spots (splinters) from the door. Remove also all the door hardware. And then sand and clean the old door carefully & thoroughly to get a better look, particularly along the edges and around the holes left by the door hardware, you can also sand the inside of the holes if necessary that can be used to place pens or pencils.

4. Take a look at your cabinets then place them on a level surface and then put the door on top of them. Choose the right side to position the door, at the back side is nice position for the bad spots of holes left by the door hardware.

5. Then, try to attach the cabinets and door by using long screws & a drill. Make sure the joints are firmly affixed to your both cabinets.

6. After sanding your old door and cabinets, then start to paint both in order to get a much new better look. For uniform look, it is better to choose the same color for both. But for more attractive color you can try with two different colors. But make sure two color paints that you choose will be coordinated well. 7. Be sure the paint is completely dry before moving the desk into your home office room and setting up your personal office supplies.
