There are available several choices to encourage your productivity! One that is most important is by choosing the right desk and chair. As well we know, in this modern living, an employee can spend a major part of life sitting and working on chair and desk. Improper or poor performance of both will promote bad posture in long term and even can lead to serious injuries. Fortunately, there are now available many pieces that are ergonomically designed. Although these types are priced relatively more expensive but they promise excellent performance to reduce and minimize body’s injuries. They are one of great innovations to let the body sit correctly and move properly, although you sit and work on the ergonomic chair and desk for long hours.

Using ergonomic desk chair is welcome idea or even so recommended at this time. But this idea will be perfect option if you also consider on how to sit and work properly at your desk, especially if you still use regular chair that is not constructed with ergonomic design! Here are several useful tips for you:

  1. If your chair has some adjustable features then use and explore them optimally! Set the chair to let your feet are flat when they are touching on the room floor. Take a look at your thighs make sure both are collateral to the room floor. Getting the better variation, it is better to choose and use chair that has footrest or even reclining feature.
  2. Well, sometimes to avoid circumstances boring, perhaps you will across your legs when sitting on the chair. It is not too bad idea but be careful, don’t do it too frequently. It can disturb the blood circulation in your feet that finally will decrease your concentration to focus and finish each task on your desk.
  3. Choosing and using chair that has adjustable armrests feature are helpful to ensure your arms get proper support (parallel to the room floor) when typing on the keyboard. Make also sure the elbows are curved at around ninety to one hundred twenty degree angle. Don’t forget to keep the wrists straight. Those positions are important to avoid shoulder pain.
  4. Then consider the position of your head! Keep it slightly forward as well as like the torso. Avoid leaning forward and always keep your head and torso in balanced position.
  5. Consider any items of office equipments, particularly items that are usually used repeatedly and frequently. Make sure they can be easily accessible. The computer monitor should be equal to the eyes. Place the keyboard on the keyboard-shelf in order to make it can be easier accessible and more convenient. It is also better to place mouse lower than the high position of keyboard (or at least equal).
  6. Consider also your knees movement under the desk. Make sure your knees can be able to move conveniently and more freely. Therefore, ensure they get sufficient space for movement.
  7. Then it is better take several seconds to give the eyes a rest by looking away from computer monitor per five minutes or less. And if you wan to hang a bulletin board, then you should hang it near of the desk and make sure it is also equal to your eyes when you are sitting on the chair. As additional tip; you can try to use a headset to answer the phone, particularly if you use it too often.
